A Message from GSBA's Board President
Congratulations for joining the Greater Seattle Business Association as a either a new member or a renewing member for! GSBA is the largest LGBT business chamber in the U.S., and the second largest business chamber in Washington State. GSBA at its core is a business chamber, but more importantly, it is you and I, the business owners, workers, activists, volunteers and individuals that make us what we are.
Together we support one mission: Combining business development, leadership and social action to expand economic opportunities for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community and those who support equality for all.
Many members ask once they become a member “now what?” Well, let me tell you. If you want to get the most of your membership, get out there, attend some of our many events, volunteer and get involved!
For example, GSBA has many monthly marketing and networking opportunities to participate in. Find out what GSBA events are going on right here on our website. Then go to one or all of GSBA’s monthly Business Luncheons, after hours Prime Time, Connecting Women meetings, and/or a GSBA Annual Event. It is at these meetings and events where you have the opportunity to promote your business, meet others who can provide you with goods/services as well as to socialize with other members and colleagues. Having been an active member since 1995, I can honestly say that many of my friends, clients and goods/service providers have come from meeting them at such GSBA events.
Another way to get involved in GSBA is to volunteer. There is no better way to meet people then when you are giving of yourself. GSBA has many committees needing volunteers your skill sets and interests maybe a perfect match for. Again, you can find out more right here on our website.
There are also many community outreach, learning/mentoring and advocacy opportunities available to you as a member. For example, you could become involved and donate to the GSBA Scholarship Fund and support the oldest and one of the largest LGBT scholarship funds in the nation. You could participate in an online class or attend a learning seminar. You could also volunteer and help in GSBA’s legislative monitoring and/or assist in our fall Legislative Forum.
However you choose to use you membership is up to you. Just know that the opportunities are out there for you to get the most of it and become successful!
