June's business luncheon focuses on the Tourism industry. Our special guest speaker will be Rick Steves. Rick advocates smart, affordable, perspective-broadening travel. As host and writer of the popular public television series Rick Steves' Europe, and best-selling author of over 50 European travel books, he encourages Americans to travel as "temporary locals." Over the past 20 years, Rick has hosted over 100 travel shows for public television and also hosts a weekly public radio program, Travel with Rick Steves. In addition to his guidebooks, TV and radio work, Rick is a syndicated newspaper columnist with the Tribune Media Services. The GSBA's Young Professionals with Pride is Dedicated to providing Seattle's LGBT and allied young professionals unique and valuable opportunities to enhance personal and professional development through social, educational, and philanthropic activities. GSBA’s Young Professionals with Pride group is geared toward our 21-39 age range members. Bainbridge Graduate Institute (BGI) is our host for the May YPP. BGI is the nationally ranked pioneer of sustainable business education, with graduate and certificate programs for leaders of the new economy. BGI was the first to offer an MBA in Sustainable Business, and in addition to its Bainbridge Island based MBA in Sustainable Systems, now offers an MBA in Sustainable Systems and continuing education in their new home in Pioneer Square. OUT for Sustainability (OUT4S), the featured nonprofit at this YPP, was started by alumni of BGI using classes such as Social Justice in Business and Systems Thinking to build what is now the leading organization mobilizing a greener LGBTQ community. The Seattle chapter of Out & Equal Workplace Advocates is again partnering with us this month. This group of LGBT employee resource groups focuses on championing an inclusive environment for all Northwest companies by fostering cross-company communication, providing personal and professional networking and development opportunities, creating community involvement opportunities, sharing best practices, and celebrating diversity while benefiting their companies, communities and families. We look forward to connecting GSBA, Out & Equal, BGI and OUT4S together as we lead the change in Seattle's business community.
