The Application and Selection Process

Step 1: Apply Online
The application is available online October 11, 2023 and must be submitted by January 5, 2024 (5:00 PM PST). You will need a valid email to create an account. Once your account is created you can work on your application over several sessions.

Step 2: Semi-Finalist Selected
A team of community volunteers will individually review and rate each application on the basis of the evaluation criteria. Each team will select the individuals they feel best exemplify the selection criteria. These semi-finalists will be notified in mid-March 2024 and will be invited to an online interview via Zoom on Saturday, April 6, 2024

Step 3: Scholars Selected
After interviews, volunteer teams will then make their selection to who will be awarded a GSBA Scholarship. We introduce our scholars to the community at our annual annual Scholars Celebration, Saturday, April 27, 2024.

Pride Foundation Scholarships
Pride Foundation also awards a variety of scholarships to LGBTQ+ students. They fund both undergraduate and graduate studies and accept applications from residents of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.

More information about the Pride Foundation and their Scholarship Program can be found here.

Because of the collaboration between the GSBA Scholarship Fund and the Pride Foundation, you will only need to fill out one application form whether you are applying for a GSBA Scholarship Fund scholarship, Pride Foundation scholarship, or both.

Featured Scholar

"As a result of receiving the GSBA scholarship, my confidence in myself has increased in most areas of my life. As a first generation college student who does not often see people like themselves represented within professional spheres, not only being told that I have a future as a Clinical Psychologist but actively supported by a community that is investing in my future means the world to me. Through networking events presented by the GSBA, I have also been able to develop networking and chatting skills that I otherwise would have been unable to. As I also get the pleasure to be around my fellow scholars and (very supportive) queer professionals, I have been able to feel more confident in my identity as a queer person. The deep shame that has eaten me from the inside has become a bit less deep. I am here, and I am more comfortable with being queer. As a mentor with the Mentor Power for Success program at the University of Washington, I have been able to take this newfound queer confidence and information from the yearly Leadership Conference and spread it to a queer mentee. As I continue my mentor activities with other programs, I hope to make others a bit more comfortable with their queerness, too. "
