GSBA Scholarship Application Process

GSBA awards educational scholarships to undergraduate LGBTQ and Allied students who are committed to making a difference in the world. Our scholarships range from $3,000 to $10,000 and are meant to provide significant support to students as they pursue their educational goals.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for a GSBA Scholarship, you must be:
  • A current resident of Washington State
  • Applying to, or enrolled in, an undergraduate program

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

GSBA evaluates its applicants on the basis of:
  • Leadership Potential
  • Academic Strength/Special skills and talents
  • Diversity

Selection Process

STEP ONE:

The applicants complete and return scholarship application, letters of reference, and transcripts by application deadline.

STEP TWO:

A team of community volunteers will individually review and rate each application on the basis of the evaluation criteria. Each team will select the individuals they feel best exemplify the selection criteria. These semi-finalists will be notified in early April and will be asked to come to Seattle for an interview.

STEP THREE:

Each of the semi-finalists will be interviewed by a panel of volunteers in late April. The volunteers will then make their selection as to who will be awarded a GSBA scholarship.

Pride Foundation Scholarships

The Pride Foundation also awards a variety of scholarships to LGBTQ students. They fund both undergraduate and graduate studies and accept applications from residents of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska.

For more information about the Pride Foundation and their Scholarship Program, go to: www.pridefoundation.org.

Because of the collaboration between GSBA and the Pride Foundation, you will only need to fill out one application form whether you are applying for GSBA scholarship, Pride scholarship, or both.

The application deadline for the 2008-2009 academic year has now passed. Applications for the 2009-2010 academic year will be available in October 2008.
