We’re looking for an Associate Director of Development: 
Job purpose:  The Associate Director of Development is expected to enhance and support strong fundraising plans for special events, third party events, sponsorship and grants with a special focus on major gifts, planned giving and corporate engagement. The Associate Director of Development will support the overall fundraising team alongside with Director of Development and Operations, build long-term sustainable relationships with donors in the community, and outline and execute long-term strategy to support the future sustainable growth. 

Hours: Full-time  
Pay: $27.00 to $32.00/hour, DOE  
Reports to: Director of Development and Community Relations (DCR) 
Benefits: Eligible for benefits after 60 days 

Duties and responsibilities: 
• Support DCR team on day to day operations.
• Support deposits get entered into donor management database, are reconciled with finance, and donors are thanked in a timely manner.
• Support fundraising efforts through social media, community engagement, speaking engagements, and more.
• Build and implement a comprehensive fundraising program, including planned giving.
• Lead Flutter Tours on a reoccurring basis. 
• Regularly present to community groups and supporters about Cocoon House and how to get involved 
• Develop and manage a portfolio of relationships: 
identifying and cultivating prospects, soliciting gifts, and stewarding these relationships on behalf of the Agency.
• Support fundraising efforts through social media, community engagement, speaking engagements, and more.
• Schedule meetings with donors and prospective donors with CEO and other team members, directly soliciting gifts to support the Agency.
• Provide ongoing database updates to assure that the information on current and prospective major donors are accurate and complete allowing for full understanding of portfolio contacts.  
• Strategically participate on behalf of Cocoon House in community events and external organizations to develop new relationships for the Agency.
• Stay up-to-date on best practices in fund development and major gifts and bring knowledge to Cocoon House to best support fund development strategy for Agency.
• Support fellow DCR team members and provide other duties as assigned. 
 
Qualifications: 
• Five to ten years successful experience in major and/or planned giving, preference for experience in fund development in Snohomish County.
• Must be committed to the mission of Cocoon House:  empowering young people, families and the community to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing and prevention.
• The ideal candidate possesses integrity, is friendly and professional, organized, hard-working, donor centric, highly motivated, and has a passion for fund development.
• Ability to understand the needs and interests of high impact donors and community supporters 
• Demonstrated success with overseeing fundraising events and auctions 
• Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional at working with diverse groups of people.
• Excellent public speaking, and written and oral communication.
• Experience in development and administration of budgets and work plans.
• Availability to work varied hours, including nights and weekends as necessary.
• Skilled in Outlook, Word, Excel and Access. Donor management database, Constant Contact and Greater Giving experience highly preferred. 
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality.
• Valid Washington State driver's license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography. 
• Ability to pass a DSHS Criminal Background check 
 
Working conditions: 
• Mobility: ability to sit for long periods, move about an office, stand occasionally, reach above and below desk level
• Dexterity: fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes • Lifting: occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds
• Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently
• Hearing/Talking: ability to hear typical speech, speak and hear on the telephone, and speak in person
• Emotional/Psychological Factors: ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments 
 
Physical requirements: 
• Must have the ability to run up and down indoor and outdoor stairwells in case of youth emergency.
• Communicate effectively with youth, staff, other programs, vendors and the public, both orally and in writing.
• Hear voice conversations and alarms.
• Possess close vision, far vision, side vision, depth perception, visual ability to read a variety of materials.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to reach, handle and operate telephone, computer keyboard, record information in appropriate youth files and logs.
