Job Title: Community Organizer
Reports To: Executive Director
Pay Grade: 1 FTE $48,576 - $52,800
Benefits: Healthcare, Sick Time & Vacation Accrual
- Full time 40/week
- Weekly schedule is Monday through Friday, at 9:00am - 5:00pm, but hours can vary.
- Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job.
- Must be available some nights and weekends.
- Must be available for special events and training.
U.T.O.P.I.A. Seattle is seeking a culturally aligned qualified Community Organizer to coordinate U.T.O.P.I.A. community's social justice, activism, and advocacy work. The Organizer will support the creation of a QTPI (Queer and Trans Pacific Islander) Leadership Cohort/ Trans Leadership Sisterhood that engages U.T.O.P.I.A. leaders to work together to change the systems and policies that impact their lives. The Organizer will develop QTPI leaders with a focus on those with experience in the sex trades to assess community needs and lead campaigns to collectively address them. Possible campaigns include: organizing for increased rights and economic stability for QTPI workers, transformative justice for QTPI impacted by the criminal justice system, reforming trans-, homo-, and xeno-phobic laws and polices, or work for improved and more trans- and POC-literate healthcare access.
